Latest Updates from Our Project:

800% Funded! Sneak Peak at the Equipment System, Soundtrack, and More!
3 months ago – Wed, Jul 03, 2024 at 09:44:09 AM

Hello pilots! We passed $80K today, and are amped at how much closer to unlocking our next few stretch goals that brings us! Only $5K till we add two more archetypes to the book, and $20K till we are able to fully fund the official soundtrack to the eldritch apocalypse!

The Armory System

For today’s update, we wanted to highlight one of the systems that wasn't explored in the Quicklaunch materials: the Armory. Your Automata is going to need some serious firepower to combat the Horrors, and we've built mechanics that allow you to customize that firepower with style.

Weapons are created using a system we developed in which they derive their stats and abilities from Tags. We will have a catalog of pre-generated weapons to give players and GMs quick and easy access to a starting point to design your weapons, but we encourage players to use this system to add a personal touch to their Automata. Let's take a look at the four different types of Tags:
  • Damage Tags denote the amount of damage your weapon does.
  • Ranged Tags set the range your weapon can strike from.
  • Descriptor Tags are where your weapons come to life, covering all the numerous effects and furnishing that each weapon can have to be unique.
  • Flaw Tags represent the drawbacks of a weapon.

Cost is how we balance weapons, setting a limit to the capability of their strength. Automata weapons are divided into three tiers: Side Arms, Signature Arms, and Eldritch Arms. Side Arms have a maximum cost of 1. Signature Arms have a maximum cost of 3. Eldritch Arms do not have a maximum cost, but usually come with their own unique abilities and drawbacks. All tags come predetermined with a point cost. I.E. the Medium Damage tag has a 1-point cost while the Heavy Damage tag has a 2-point cost. Damage, Ranged, and Descriptor Tags will raise the cost of your weapon while Flaw Tags lower them.
COST = Damage Tag + Ranged Tag + Descriptor Tags - Flaw Tags

Examples of Tags

Example of Descriptor Tag
Knockback - On a successful attack, you can spend a stunt to knock the target backward into the zone behind them. If that zone is blocked by an obstacle, the target takes an additional 2 damage. (Cost 1)

Example of Flaw Tag
Volatile - This weapon can malfunction when used carelessly. Any panic roll during an attack results in self-inflicted damage equal to half of the weapon's base damage (rounded down, a minimum of 1). (Cost -3)

Soundtrack Teaser

As we climb toward unlocking the Official Eldritch Automata Soundtrack we want to give you all a taste of what types of music will be included! In collaboration with Sneakernet, we have an instrumental track to share with you all! Please enjoy "Automata Rise," a track inspired by the work of John Carpenter and the music of Pacific Rim!

Listen to "Automata Rise" Now!

Projects We Love

Last but not least we want to highlight a very cool project we have our eyes on that is ending soon - Wild Earth Dice! Who doesn't love chonky liquid core dice? Though the Architect may have sundered the earth and left humanity trapped in a new wasteland, the stars still shine above, offering a glimmer of hope for the future. Wild Earth Dice: Vision of a Thousand Galaxies are beautiful handcrafted liquid core dice that come in standard or Super Chonk (90mm) sizes! Don't miss this campaign before it ends in just a few days!

3 Days Down and over 700% Funded!
3 months ago – Sat, Jun 29, 2024 at 07:02:10 AM

Hello pilots!

We've passed the $70K point after just three days love, and are thrilled at the progress you've all helped us achieve.
  • 11 Stretch Goals Unlocked
  • E//A: Homefront supplement book funded
  • Edge of the Apocalypse mini-wargame funded
  • And we're close to adding two new archetypes to the book!

In today's update, we wanted to share a little more about the game's specifics and maybe tease our plans for some upcoming stretch goals.

Horror Toxicosis & Seraph Radiation

One challenge that pilots can face in combat against Horrors and the Seraph is new, deadly diseases these otherworldly creatures can spread. When facing down Horrors without the protection of an Automata, humans have discovered a lingering impact on their health that doctors have begun calling "Horror Toxicosis."

Horror Toxicosis degrades the body and mind, corrupting our very flesh and the essence of what makes us human. If someone spends too much time around a Horror, it erodes their Wits, eventually leaving them broken. When that occurs, the body tears asunder, birthing a new Horror from within...While doctors have found ways to help patients recover from the disease, it is rare.

While Horrors corrupt over time, Seraph are completely foreign to our world and come with unique, previously unseen challenges. Those who encounter a Seraph in the wild, without the protection of an Automata or other means, have found themselves entranced by it, its very energy tearing at the fabric of their being. Dubbed Seraph Radiation, the effects of this swift and brutal, and the victims are often left a shell of their former selves.

New Stretch Goal - Ride Out The End of the World With The Perfect Soundtrack

That's right; our latest stretch goal is now public as well - An official Eldritch Automata Soundtrack. We've already begun building the basis for this, and hitting $100,000 will help us flesh out a full soundtrack, working with various artists in the EDM, Heavy Metal, JRock, KPop, and other genres to build out an album you'd want playing in your Automata when heading off to fight off the latest Horror infestation.

Again, thank you all for backing the campaign so far, we can't wait to share the game with you, and more about our plans for the future!

24 Hours In and 500% funded! Thank you!
3 months ago – Wed, Jun 26, 2024 at 07:08:44 AM

Hello everyone! First of all, Nick, Ian, and the whole team want to say thank you so much for your initial response and reactions to the launch. We did not think we'd hit 500% funding in the first 24 hours. That is absolutely wild, and we're incredibly grateful to you all. Eldritch Automata has been a work of passion for some time now and we're excited to finally share it with you all. From the amazing art that we're working on behind the scenes to the lore and setting refinements, this game is going to blow you away, we promise.

I want to take a moment to recap what we've unlocked and shared so far in the first day. We have eight (8) stretch goals unlocked, a new tier added, and Deluxe Edition upgrades for the Architect, Become A Pilot, Become A Horror, and Be The Automata tiers. We have some more exciting stretch goals waiting and some other announcements we can't wait to share, but let's take a look at the road so far.

We launched at 9 AM Eastern on June 25 with a $10K US goal. You all helped us SMASH that goal in just over 30 minutes and proceeded to steamroll through eight stretch goals in less than 12 hours. We unlocked:
  • THREE in-depth location modules to be added to the core rulebook - The Forge (featured in The Dark Passenger starter operation in the Quicklaunch Guide (download here if you haven't already), The Pegasus (a flying airbase that helps deploy Automata and pilots quickly across the globe), and The Academy (a pilot training facility where pilots learn how to ride their Automata and battle real threats out in the Wastelands).
  • A special Deluxe edition release of the core rulebook and upgrades for the All-In tier and higher, which will feature a leatherette cover with a metallic embossed Seraph design and overall improved paper and binding quality.
  • An Alchemy Enhanced Edition for our VTT users, with a full upgrade package on Alchemy with fully animated scenes, thematic motion overlays, ambient sound beds and soundtrack, dynamic audio, and ready-to-play pre-built scenes.
  • The Eldritch Arms Collection will be added to the core rulebook and equipment deck - a set of legendary weapons for your Automata that come from eldritch sources and grant massive power but with a cost to the pilot that may be too much to bear...
  • A new set of twenty-four (24) pre-generated characters for use as player characters or NPCs with a variety of pilot/automata builds.
  • And a new Operation added to the core rulebook penned by noneother than Beam Saber creator Austin Ramsay! Though Austin is already contributing to the core rulebook, this Operation will give players a new style of scenario to play through, focusing on the harsh realities of survival in the Wastelands.

And that's just the start. We're currently working our way toward unlocking Homefront, a fully separate book release and the first official supplement for Eldritch Automata. E//A: Homefront will focus on survival in the Wastelands, how individuals have come to survive in the case of Horrors, Automata, and shadow groups bent on destroying or controlling them. We'll explore the world of Eldritch Automata more, as well as new mechanics for play without an Automata to protect you and more!

After that, we have more Operations and some VERY unique stretch goals to unlock that we're very excited for. Stay tuned for more reveals, and keep sharing the campaign! The more of your friends you get to back, the more we can add to the game and share with you!

So buckle in pilots. The launch was successful and we've defeated the first round of Horrors, but there's plenty more on the way!

Cheers,
Nick, Ian, and the Eldritch Automata and Gehenna Gaming teams
